Don't let the bedbugs bite
81Don't let the bed bugs bite!! It's not just a saying anymore. The bedbug has made its bed in the US and its staying. These small bloodsuckers catch us at our most vulnerable in our sleep. They are not dangerous as they are not known to carry any pathogens, but the mental impact they have on their hosts can be severe.
Bedbugs only food is blood, much like a flea or mosquito. However, unlike other "vampire" insects they keep one host their entire life. This explains why bedbugs are not known to carry any diseases. Bedbug adults are approximately ΒΌ inch long flat insects with a red-orange in color. Most commonly they are mistaken for a young roach. Younger bedbugs are a lighter color with a black diamond showing, which is their digestive track. When engorged with blood their abdomen inflates similar to a foil balloon. The eggs are thin small sticks of white to transparent, which are smaller then .05 pencil lead. Adult bed bugs only feed every 3-7 days while younger bedbugs feed more frequently.
The invasion of the bedbug came from overseas. Currently there are thousands of top end hotels with bedbug infestations. They were carried along with luggage and clothing, which incidentally would be the same way they would/were carried into your home. Because these bugs The most interesting thing is that it doesn't matter how clean your home is bedbugs only need 2 things to survive a host and small crevice to hide in.
If you do have bedbugs I am sure the main thought in you mind is I want these creatures GONE!! Sadly verminators have yet to master a way to kill off bedbugs, even if you call in a professional, they can only manage the population. The professionals will ask you to get rid of all your clutter in the bedroom, as well as your mattress and bedding. If the infestation is advanced then they may say you need to remove the carpeting and waling.
Most of us can not afford to replace all your bedroom items, so what can you do?? First take a deep breath and calm down. First thing you need to do is strip your bed and throw all the blankets and sheets in the wash on hot then into the dryer on high heat to kill all the eggs off. Clean away any clutter of stuffed animals, clothes, or anything bedbugs could crawl into to hide. Anything that can be washed in hot water should be, however if its not able to be washed or just put into the dryer on high heat to kill the eggs then you will need to get rid of it. Assess your mattress by looking over all the edges are there small black spots ( these black spots would be poop from the bed bug). Large super marts carry mattress covers which totally encase the mattress in vinyl. You will want to encase not only the mattress but also the box frame as well. You may wish to invest in vinyl pillow covers so that you do not have to wash them as often. Wash your linens in Hot water and then dry on high. Any linens you can't do this with throw away.
I recommended highly even though you may not see Bedbugs on your walls, ceilings, or carpeting to clean these as well regularly. The carpet should be steam cleaned with special attention given to the corners and edge of the carpeting or carpeting that was directly under your bed where most of the bed bugs will have laid eggs or made their home. Adult bedbugs have a strong odor reminiscent of a stink bug when you squish them, so I am a firm believer that bedbugs make a scent trail to feeding areas which they and their young follow back again and again. So Clean your walls by wiping them down with bleach water or disinfectant wipes, to destroy scent trails to your bed. Vacuuming the carpet daily as well as the corners of walls and the edge of the ceiling can help keep large colonies from forming in small cracks in the wall and ceiling and in the carpeting.
Baking Soda has been known to dry up insects including fleas which are another strictly blood sucking insect. You could help your battle against the bed bug my sprinkling your carpets before vacuuming with a little baking soda. Perhaps even leave a little on the edge of your carpets and under the bed.
Remember a bed bug can live up to a year with out food, so you never know where you will find them. Do not unwrap your bed, if a tear occurs in your vinyl covering be sure to either replace the cover or tape it immediately.
If you do have bed bugs its not the end of the world although it can seem like it. Bed bugs show up in the cleanest homes and most prestigious hotels. By making it hard for the bed bug to multiply you can manage the population and keep from getting bitten as often.

bedbugs are the worst one way to get rid of it is bedbug spray
A good overall cheap strategy in a single post:
Bedbugs can climb the walls and drop on to your bed from the ceiling like nasty little ninjabugs. Try running a long strip of wide tape horizontally across every wall in your bedroom, making sure that strip of tape is touching. Now apply vaseline to that tape. Bedbugs can't cross vaseline. Reapply the vaseline as needed. This will prevent them from crawling up the walls and landing on you. Move your mattress as far away from the walls as you can.
Also, get a bed frame if you don't have one already, place a plastic plate or something under each leg and cover it in vaseline. Now you've blocked them from ground attacking you and from ceiling and wall attacking you. Now to block them from within. Throw out your bed skirt.
Get Aller-Ease Waterproof mattress covers from walmart or find a similar product, only $30 in canada for queen size. It can block dustmites (0.04mm), and water, so it can block bedbugs, also if you check the Aller-Ease website it says their product has been tested as bedbug bite proof. OR there are vinyl allergenic waterproof bed covers, $11 for queen size at walmart, should do the trick, get one for your mattress and one for your boxspring.
So far everything here has been about keeping the bedbugs off you while you sleep, but they can live 6 months without food so denying them a meal will take a long time to kill them. So don't stop there's still more you can easily and cheaply do. Seal as many cracks as you can with tape or caulk. Squeeze your caulk into tight holes. If you still got funds brush some diatomaceous earth around and into cracks and such. When a bedbug breaths in that diatomaceous it'll rip into its lungs harder then Rosie O'Donnell rips into a bag of Lays. Lay down some neem oil they don't like the smell (neither will you), though in doing so you may just chase them elsewhere, neem oil alone doesn't stop them that would be too easy.
Wash your clothes in hot water, dry them thoroughly (none of those massive dryer loads that are still damp after an hour use some sense). Keep all your clothes in garbage bags. Wash your sheets often. And bedbugs love clutter, so tidy up as best you can. If you're a packrat it's time to change your ways, throw out that stuff you almost never use, the occasional uses for that junk are not worth the risk that it could be hiding bedbugs.
TOO LONG DIDN'T READ? Here's the cliff notes:
-Wide tape, one long strip running horizontally along the middle of every wall, all the strips touching at the ends. Now cover that tape in vaseline. Will prevent bugs from crawling up the walls and ceiling to fall on you. Move mattress as far from walls as possible.
-Get a bed frame, under each leg a plate of vaseline to prevent bedbug ground attacks.
-Mattress cover, Get Aller-Ease Waterproof mattress covers from walmart or find a similar product. Duct tape plastic 3.5-4mil sheeting around your boxspring if you're cheap.
-Seal as many cracks in the floor, walls, etc, as you can with tape and caulk
-Brush some diatomaceous earth around and into cracks and such, neem oil.
-Wash your clothes in hot water, dry well, keep in plastic bags. Wash sheets often.
-There's a bee in my glasses oh no please don't sting my eye, go away bee.
-Tidy up, reduce clutter they can hide in, throw out your junk.
-Stay frosty
